This Queen Nanny Service Learning Ed-Venture is a  project based learning edventure that empowers girls to build upon the legacy of one of the worlds most renowned women, Queen Nanny, Leader of the Maroons.

Groups  meet online once a month to plan one of several Volunteer Service Learning Projects in which to participate.

The Maroons are an intregal part of Jamaican history and culture as they were the catalyst to the Slave rebellions throughout the island which ultimately led to Jamaica becoming one of the second country to free itself from English colonialism. The first being Haiti’s revolt against French rule.

During their service learning ed-venture, girls will learn how the fierce warrior Queen-Nanny’s brilliant gorilla tactics defeated the powerful British Army, to assist in planning their own projects.

The Queen Nanny 4H Service Learning Ed-Venture includes self defense courses, a guided tour to Jamaica’s historic sites and landmarks, visits to the crystal rivers and Blue Mountains, and a Hike among the mountains, caves, and landmarks used by the Maroons to defeat the British.
