✊🏾🇪🇹Why We Must Boycott Jamaica’s Hotel Industry Until Justice Is Served

Updated: Jul 13

“Jamaica is not for sale. Her beaches, hills, and rivers are the inheritance of the people — not the playgrounds of Babylon.

We call on the Diaspora to rise up, speak up, and shut it down until justice rolls forth.”

Royal Priest Kelly

Jamaica — land of prophets, poets, and pioneers — is at a critical crossroads.

While millions flock to the island’s white sand beaches and all-inclusive resorts, the African children of the land continue to suffer behind high fences, locked out of their own birthright.

The glittering surface of tourism hides a darker truth: militarized policing, human rights violations, land dispossession, and systemic corruption.

It is from this reality that the Haile Selassie I JAH Rastafari Royal Ethiopian Judah Coptic Church, under the leadership of Royal Priest Wesley Kelly, has made a righteous call to action:

An International Boycott of Jamaica’s Hotel Industry — effective immediately.

✨ The Truth Behind the Paradise

Beneath the reggae rhythms and resort cocktails lies a nation in distress. Communities are policed like occupied zones. Young people — especially the poor and dreadlocked — face constant harassment, detention, and even death at the hands of state forces. Rastafari culture is mocked and monetized for tourism, even as the actual Rastafari community is excluded, marginalized, and criminalized.

Worse still, beach access — once a guaranteed part of life for all Jamaicans — is being stripped away.

Fenced off. Sold. Privatized.

While tourists tan in comfort, locals are warned to “keep out” of the sea their ancestors fished for generations.

📢 What the Church Is Demanding

The Church is not calling for symbolic reform — it is calling for a spiritual and structural reset. The boycott will continue until the following demands are met:

• An end to Gestapo-style policing and state-sponsored violence

• International investigations into human rights violations in Jamaica

• Immediate restoration of full public access to beaches, waterways, rivers, and coastal lands

• Direct, respectful engagement with Rastafari leadership on reparations, land rights, and religious freedoms

🌍 A Call to the Global African Diaspora

This message is not just for Jamaicans. It is for the entire African Diaspora — the 6th Region of the African Union, the descendants of those stolen in the Middle Passage, and all freedom-loving people who believe in truth, justice, and self-determination.

If you are:

• A traveler who loves Jamaica’s beauty

• A descendant of enslaved Africans seeking justice

• A conscious artist or influencer

• A human rights advocate

…then you must not support injustice with your vacation dollars.

**No justice? No tourism.

No beaches for the people?

No bookings from the Diaspora.

No voice for Rastafari?

No silence from the saints.

🛑 Why the Boycott Matters Now

The tourism industry earns billions of dollars each year for Jamaica, yet local communities — especially Rastafari, Maroon, and grassroots families — see none of the benefit. Meanwhile, developers fence off beaches, foreign investors receive tax breaks, and everyday Jamaicans are priced out of their own island.

This is economic apartheid disguise as development.

This is neo-colonialism wearing a tropical smile.

A boycott is a sacred tool of resistance — used by the civil rights movement, by South African freedom fighters, and by Garveyites before us. Now, it is time for Rastafari and the African Diaspora to unite in the same spirit of global pressure.

🦁 Final Word from Royal Priest Kelly

“This is not hatred. It is healing.

This is not rebellion. It is righteousness.

This is not a threat. It is a trumpet —

sounding the return of the lion to Zion.”
